The Pastor’s Blog – WHAT SIZE ARE YOU?

When you go shopping for clothes, and the sales person comes to help you, one of the first questions they might ask you is “What size are you?” Of course, they have already sized you up and decided which rack to take you to, but to be polite they let you tell them what size you think you are!

Imagine creating dresses for children, children you have never seen and likely will never meet this side of eternity. How do you decide what size to make the dress? How do you decide the pattern? Or what kind of trim you will put on the dress?

This was the challenge of the women who recently decided they would add a dress in each shoebox sent to a girl this year through Operation Christmas Child. The women were willing to create a beautiful dress to bring cheer to some young girl in an impoverished area of our world. For many days this team cut, sewed and prepared the dresses for the shoeboxes. (note: picture does not show all the team)

So how do they know what size the girl will be who receives the dress? They don’t. They simply trust that God will match the right box with the right girl. It is an act of faith.

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

The fun part about faith is hearing the stories afterwards how there was just enough dresses, or they were just the right size, or it was exactly what this girl had asked God for in a prayer. God has everything in his control. We simply trust in Him.
